TEST RUGBY: Churchill Cup Game 2

05.06.2010
Canada v Uruguay in Glendale

Referee:

Preview
Both teams have a lot to play for in the open match of the 2010 Churchill Cup. Canada are still building a side that it is hoped will do them credit at the 2011 Rugby World Cup whilst Uruguay, also in a rebuilding stage, has yet to qualify.

Uruguay is fresh from the CONSUR A tournament held in Santiago Chile last month. They came away with a good 36-19 win over Chile but lost 0-38 to the Argentina Jaguars. This is a young side with a number of players from last season retiring. Back into this squad comes Pablo Lemoine who will add grunt and leadership to a forward pack that was outplayed by the Jaguars.

Uruguay were defeated by the USA last November in the America's qualifying round which saw the losers earn the right to play in the repecharge round. Uruguay will face Kazakhstan in July. The winner of that match will face the winner of Romania-Tunisia for the right to fill the final place at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Canada fields a team with a good mix of experience and youth. The worry is the bench which has very little test rugby experience
