TEST RUGBY RESULTS: Saturday 14 September

14.09.2013
New Zealand 29, South Africa 15 in Auckland (Rugby Championship)
Australia 14, Argentina 13 in Perth (Rugby Championship)

Briefly
South Africa could well feel hard done by as the refereeing decisions went against them in controversial manner as they lost to New Zealand in Auckland. A yellow card for Bismark du Plessis early in the first half for what appeared to be a legal tackle on Dan Carter (who had to leave the field) became a red card in the second half as du Plessis appeared to transgress in a tackle on Liam Messam. Later Ma’a Nonu was carded for a tackle of player in the air which reduced the game to 27 players late in the half.

In the end New Zealand were able to hold the larger physical South African pack and eventually won the game comfortably. Sadly the issuing of the cards robbed the match of the thrill and suspense around this match prior to kick off.

In the other Rugby Championship game Australia just held off Argentina 14-13 in dreadful condition in Perth. Driving rain and a howling gale made playing difficult but Australia greatly improved their performance from last weekend.
